The project of the new church with important ecclesiastic services offers the opportunity to re-insert former industrial areas in the urban context of the city of Turin , providing not only a new church community but a whole new social center. The project for this church is characterized by a strong and monumental shape, a sculptural sign to catch the user’s attention on a central space. A presence, that won’t be indifferent to the urban surroundings. It shall be a sign recalling the efforts of building a city through landmarks. Nevertheless, the project uses a contemporary language but searches in the past of ecclesiastic typologies its way and reason of expression; furthermore as an effort of the architect to provide a spiritual place to support our daily activities. Program: on 12’500 square meters the following activities are provided: the church with an assembly for 900 persons, related services and accesses; Congress center for pastoral activities and related services on the lower level (5'000 square meters net floor area); Administration;
Parish center activities located in the 3 storey high and L-shaped building circumscribing the church; a day chapel; the old industrial chimney as memory mark of the former industrial activities and as a vertical reference pointing out the new church building.
