Desingning a chair
Another chair? This was my first reaction to Alias's request.
Then I got curious, made some initial attempts and felt attracted to a subject which has always interested designers and architects.
Indeed, same things continue to be designed. People's basic needs in designing their living space have not changed.
Each time we are confronted with what has alredy been done, but each time it is also a re-start, a sort of challenge on the blank sheet of papers.
Designing a chair or a house means finding a new wnigmatic image which can be used to express to needs sensitivety and hopes of the time. This is the reason why we are always coming up with new designs for everyday objects and looking for new spaces to live in. Our needs don't change: the shape and opportunities for expression are always teh same. Even a chair is an opportunity to regain awareness of our own knoledge and like any design it is a change to get in touch with our problems, doubts and hopes.
